Negin Dehn
Negin Dehn is a Board Member at Butterfly Books. She has worked as an attorney for more than 20 years in the field of immigration and nationality law. In her free time, Negin loves to spend time with her three children, enjoys Persian cooking and hosting family celebrations, and discovering new bookstores. Negin’s favorite book is the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini because of its provocative and moving depiction of human triumph over war, tragedy, and forces of violence. Negin is a first-generation immigrant, who fled her native homeland of Iran at the age of seven, when the Iranian Revolution swept the country and the theocratic regime took over. Negin is active in the Iranian-American community in Northern Virginia. She believes that literacy can help empower and liberate people. Negin joined Butterfly Books because she believes in serving her community and helping foster a love for reading in children. “Literature is one of the best ways to help kids understand something without necessarily having to experience it for themselves, and it can help them understand humanity and the world around them.” - Anonymous
