Barbara Bowman

Barbara is the Treasurer of Butterfly Books and also a proud resident of Historic St. Mary’s City in Maryland. She is a retired Federal Systems Development manager, and served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a residential substance abuse treatment program for over ten years. She enjoys walking, gardening, and volunteering. Since 2015, she has served as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor partnering with the local literacy program. Her favorite books are Man’s Search for Meaning and Atlas Shrugged. Barbara’s parents, who immigrated from Italy, were forced to quit school in 8th grade to support their families, so supporting literacy has always been one of her core passions. Barbara joined Butterfly Books to further support children's learning and make literature more accessible, regardless of economic background.
