Sydney Burgess

Sydney is the Vice President of Butterfly Books and a senior at the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. She serves on Madeira’s committee of diversity, equity and inclusion, and edits and writes for their newspaper’s opinion column. Sydney is a Jewish Women’s Archive (JWA) Rising Voices fellowship alum and current jGirls+ Teen Editor, positions in which she has researched the intersections of feminism and Judaism. Sydney joined Butterfly Books because of her deep love of reading and her drive to share this love with everyone around her, especially those whose communities are often underserved in the educational system. Sydney loves to swim, read, write, scream-sing Taylor Swift songs very poorly, and volunteer with her local daycare center.
